Change: Farewell, Stranger! 0.0

For the past week I've been playing my chunky old Xbox, attempting to play through my bro's Doom 3, halting play of all other systems and games in my possession. "Wherefore?", you might ask. Well, simply put, I've decided to sell my chunky old box along with my Gamecube and my SNES. That's right. With the money I make from these sales and a little of my own earnings I will acquire a brand-spanking-new Xbox 360; my ticket into the current generation of home console gaming.

In knowing that in but a few short days I must bid my Xbox adieu I have taken measures to enjoy the last games I have not beaten that lack backwards compatibility on the 360.

In going through the official list of backwards-compatible games I came upon the horrible realization that Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is not supported. Here I am thinking I have this beautiful, meaninfgul game that for one reason or another I have not actually finished and that I'll be able to play it on a new console when my hopes are dashed, nay, trampled! It is ridiculous to see horrid licensing refuse like Barbie in the list and yet not see the greatest thing to have come out of Oddworld Inhabitants.

Alas, I decided to complete Doom forthwith and take it upon myself to play Stranger intensively for the next couple of days. Maybe I'll even squeeze a bit of Munch's Oddyssey in there after I'm done with the former!

I began my travail of Stranger last night and made it to the first boss. I intended to bag the outlaw alive but after a few deaths on account of tying to control Stranger like I would my marine in Doom 3 I decided to opp that and instead terminate the stinking bastard. Yeah. I have never played the game to the point where I can actually make enough moolah for the operation, but I think I'm going to continue killing the bounties rather than bagging them alive, for the sake of my last few hours with a game I have grown to love beyond the scope of play sessions alone.

I'll be sure to chime in with how my last days of Stranger come along. Looking ahead, I've got interesting Winter months ahead as here in the tropical regions the rains start getting even heavier in October and November, then comes a relatively dry period for December punctuated by ample sunlight and chill winds - a combination I am most fond of! These should go well with my soon-to-be new console and Dragon Age: Origins, which I have been sallivating over for the last year. The game's pedigree is undeniable and should deliver on all things promised given the studio's track record.

I'll leave you all with no parting words of any particular import or significance.
